Charles Movalli

(American, b. 1945)

Charles Movalli was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, August 20, 1945. He studied at Clark University (BFA), the University of Connecticut (MA; Ph. D); and with Emile Gruppe, Roger Curtis, Zygmund Jankowski and Betty L. Schlemm.. He has taught painting at Painting Workshops in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Europe and won gold and silver medals at the Rockport Art Association and a gold medal at the Salmagundi Club (NY).

Movalli's work is represented in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. and he is a member of the North Shore Art Association, the Rockport Art Association and other clubs. He is a Contributing Editor for American Artist Magazine (1974-) and his books include Gruppe on Painting (1976); Brushwork (1977); Color in Outdoor Painting (1977); Painting with Light (1978); Art of Landscape Painting (1979); Corey on Watercolor, North Light (1982). The artist resides and paints in Gloucester, MA.
